TRACKS
When I was young, just by showing me tracks, my Dad could tell me every animal that had passed through our yard the night before. I was more fascinated by the tracks than actually seeing the animal. I still like to identify every animal by his tracks.
We all make different tracks in this world. Perhaps we leave impressionable tracks and perhaps we leave tracks of shame. None of us leave perfect tracks.
Jesus must have made many tracks traveling from town to town during his lifetime. His are the only perfect tracks made in the history of time.
Ecclesiastes 7:20 says, "For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeths good, and sinneth not."
We all have sinned. No perfect tracks for us. BUT, we could spend our lives trying to follow the tracks of Jesus.
I Kings 8:61 says, "Let your heart be perfect with the Lord, our God, to walk in His statues, and to keep His commandments, as at this day."
Isaiah 64:6 says, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
This verse tells us how imperfect we are, but for grace, we would all be lost.
Romans 6:14 says, "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid."
Keep your tracks aimed on the perfect tracks of Jesus. Colossians 1: 21-22 says, "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath He reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in His sight."
Follow His tracks and He will present you unblameable in God's sight.

ODE TO THE MOSQUITO
Ok, all you folks,
this is what I heard,
Rod made it official,
the mosquito is the town bird.
It only takes 2 or 3
of the Watson breed
to carry you off
and when they succeed,
they drain you dry
and seal your fate.
In a twinkling of an eye
you're at Heaven's gate.
You plead with St. Peter,
"Are there mosquitoes up here, my friend?
Cause if there are NOT,
then PLEASE let me in."

ME AND JOSEPH
Joseph and I used to wear a coat of many colors. We had to try and please all eleven of our brothers. Each one we were with, we had to change our color to suit his mood. We just could not please each and everyone of them. Oh, this coat we wore pleased our earthly father. But eventually, as our brothers deceived us, we had to cast our coat aside to please our Heavenly Father. He had a new cloak for us to wear. Whether our new garment was royal purple or glowing gold, we must wear it proudly and keep the color true.

ON THE WIND
In Medieval times, people believed that fern seed possessed magical powers. This idea was probably conceived because ferns don't have seeds. They do have spores, however. These spores are tiny specks so light they could blow across oceans on the wind. The plants these spores produce are very different from the parent fern plant. The spore grows a tiny heart shaped plant, called a prothallium, as small as a child's fingernail. It then produces a plant like the fern. The prothallium lives only a few months, but its offspring may live for hundreds of years.
The fern is uniqe because other plants produce seeds and it does not. Just think, if God makes a fern that's different and provides it a way, what will He do for us?
We are unique in our own ways, too.
Psalms 139: 9-10 says, "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me."
So even if we, too, float on the wind like the spores of a fern, we, too, will be protected by the hand of God.

Do you think you don't have time to be a writer, artist, cartoonist, quilter, gardener, etc. when life's other jobs take first place? Then along with the job comes the family. Will we ever have time to do the things we really want to do?
So are we a jack of all trades, master of none? If we get involved in too many things, can we ever excel in none?
Hogwash.
Look at David. There was a jack of all trades. He was a shepherd, a soldier, a poet, prophet, priest, king, administrator, a statesman, a heroic leader, a devoted father, a good friend and a man of God. He even invented some musical instruments. These are great accomplishment for one man's lifetime in any era.
We can learn from David. He possessed an immense energy. He mastered everything he undertook. He excelled in everything.
So, when you're feeling discouraged, juggling your job, family, and all the other things you'd like to accomplish in life, heed David's dying words to Solomon, his son. It will work for you, too.
Read I Kings 2: 1-3:
When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon, his son. "I am about to go the way of all the earth," He said. "So be strong, show yourself a man and observe what the Lord your God requires: walk in His ways, and keep His decrees, and commands, His laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go." (NIV)
If David can do it, we can too. I read somewhere the difference between "try" and "triumph" is a little "umph". David had that little "umph." We must walk in God's ways and keep His commands. We, too, can master all the things we want to accomplish.

I just left the Watson Baptist Church Outreach building. I had the honor of fixing supper for 6 tired and hungry men. The Baptist Builders once again are spending the night in our church building. Four of them are sheet rocking a house that was flooded in Corning, MO. The other two were wiring a house that was flooded in Langdon and recently moved to Rock Port. They have worked since the beginning, cleaning the mud out of these houses, then tearing out the old muddy sodden sheet rock and are now in the process of rebuilding these homes. These people do all this work for nothing. They are Baptists who are retired from their lifelong jobs and spend their time helping others in disasters. They go around the country and do this work for free. Tonight it was just men, but most of them bring their wives, too, and they work right along side of their husbands. They all have been trained to do this type of work. These folks do not get enough appreciation. Half the people in the county don't even know who they are or what they are doing. I think a great big "THANK YOU" is in order. Thanks, guys and gals for all the hard work you do.

The Watson Quilters are an outreach group of the Watson Baptist Church. No, we're not all Baptists, nor are we all from Watson. We have Methodists, Catholics, and Church of God in addition to Baptists. Some of the group are from Watson, some from Rock Port, and some from Hamburg, IA. We make quilts for benefits (such as a child who has been injured, or has cancer) and the quilts are either raffled or auctioned off to help raise money for the child's healthcare costs. We also make them and send them to soldiers. We also make some for other money raising events, such as music carnival in Hamburg, "after prom" parties for both Rock Port and Hamburg, for raising money for fireworks in Rock Port, the food pantry in Hamburg, and Watson and numerous benefits for people who have extended illnesses. We have anywhere from 12 to 20 members of our group that meet every Thursday night. Anyone interested can come help us.
